Gergardt’s mill is one of the few survived buildings in the battle of Stalingrad during World War II. From September 1942 to January 1943 it was surrounded by the german army but defenders of the building hold out and didn’t let the enemy to Volga river which is right behind it. After the war, the building was not restored and preserved in a ruined form as a monument to the heroic defense of Stalingrad. Location: Russia, Volgograd city, Marshala Chuykova street, 47A.
